Corpus Christi is set up very nicely for hosting a regatta. The
city of
275,000 people wraps itself around the lee shore of a 100 square mile
coastal bay, separated from the Gulf of Mexico by a sand barrier island.
The municipal marina, where the Corpus Christi Yacht Club is located,
is at
the heart of downtown Corpus Christi, where several hotels, restaurants,
tourist attractions, and bars are within walking distance of the marina.
Hotel prices run from $50 for a clean, basic room to $150 pernight
for luxury
hotels. Regattas are run just outside of the marina breakwater.
Current in the bay is negligible, and wind is always plentiful.
